Inmate attacks Ayodhya plot accused Abdul Rahman in Faridabad jail

Terror accused Abdul Rahman was found murdered inside Neemka Jail in Faridabad, Haryana, after being attacked with a sharp object by a fellow inmate late at night. Jail officials said the killing came to light on Monday morning, following which police were informed and an investigation was initiated.

According to jail authorities, another inmate, Arun Chaudhary, who was recently shifted to Neemka Jail from Jammu and Kashmir, is accused of carrying out the attack. Officials rushed to the spot after receiving information and secured the area, while Rahman’s body was sent to a civil hospital for post-mortem examination.

Abdul Rahman, 20, was arrested on March 2, 2025, near Pali village with two live hand grenades, which were later defused by a bomb disposal squad. Investigators had said he had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to carry out a terror attack in Ayodhya and was instructed to travel there in early April before his arrest thwarted the plan.

A resident of Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh, Rahman was found to be in contact with Abu Sufiyan, a known terrorist of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent. Probes revealed he had been uploading provocative videos related to the Ram Temple on social media for nearly one and a half years, leading to repeated account takedowns and eventually drawing the attention of terror handlers.

Security agencies had alleged that Rahman was radicalised online and provided training for terrorist activities. He was arrested by the Haryana Police Special Task Force with assistance from Gujarat ATS and central intelligence agencies, and was lodged in Neemka Jail pending further legal proceedings.
